On Sunday, Lee-Anthony Santiago ’21 was all over the basepaths in a 13-12 victory for the Barry University JV baseball team at home in Miami Shores, FL.
The freshman singled to start the 4th inning and came around to score to give the Buccaneers a 3-2 lead. Santiago then walked in the 5th inning and scored as Barry hung seven runs in the inning to take a commanding 10-2 lead. Scoutz USA, one of the top travel teams in the country, bounced back with eight runs in the 6th inning, to storm back into a 10-10 tie. Two more runs in the 7th gave them a 12-10 edge, but in the bottom half, Santiago halved the deficit with an RBI single to shortstop. Barry completed the comeback with a pair of 8th inning runs.
In four games this year, Santiago is hitting a scorching .444 with 4 hits in 9 at bats to go along with 4 runs, a walk, and a stolen base. The Buccaneers are back in action on Sunday in a match-up with Rollins College.
