On this day 36 years ago, Doug Alioth led the boys’ basketball team to a 63-54 victory over Shelter Island. The sophomore poured in 32 points, including 14 in a high-scoring 22-19 fourth quarter, to hand the islanders their tenth straight loss.

Blair Cochran (8 points), Bill Cooper (8), Rob Dambra (4), Brooks Johnson (4), Roy Williamson (3), Joe Alexander (2), and Joel Werkema (2) rounded out the scoring for the Shrikes.
