At the start of each basketball season, Newsday lists the Top 100 boys’ basketball players on Long Island. This year, two Bears made the cut for the first time in program history. They are also Stony Brook’s first Newsday Top 100 honorees since Joe Wozny made the baseball watchlist in 2018 and 2019.
Stony Brook’s CJ Edwards and Oskar Humpert were two of four PSAA players to be included on the list, joining a pair of Portledge Panthers. Also of note, St. John the Baptist, who the Bears dispatched 59-58 in their season opener, placed four players on the list.
Here is what Newsday had to say about our boys.
