After securing the PSAA crowns for the fourth consecutive season, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams moved on to the 37th Annual NYSAISAA Cross Country Championships, run at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday.
Evelyn Apazidis was the top finisher for the girls, taking 34th place in 23:02. Alexandra Puopolo (81st/25:26) and Anne-Sarah Nichitiu (102nd/27:26) also ran for the Bears in a field of 133 runners.
In the boys’ race, Zach Xu led the Bears with a 32nd place finish, covering the 5k course in 19:28. Forest Kaplan-Walbrecht (45th/20:05), Joe Barisic Cubillas (62nd/20:52), Marc Nichitiu (66th/20:57), and Paul Cesario (104th/22:48) also scored for the Brook, who finished 8th out of 15 teams and ahead of Rye Country Day, Horace Mann, Poly Prep, Masters, Friends Academy, Loyola, and Avenues. Theo Greenfield (112th/23:19), Troy Meng (114th/23:23), Nathan Stortz (116th/23:37), and Russell Yu (122nd/24:18) also ran for the Blue & White in a 142-man field.
