On Monday afternoon, in the first PSAA meet of the year, the cross country teams registered dominant wins on Portledge’s home course and look poised to repeat as the champions of the league.
Sarah Wong paced the girls’ race in 15:56 to improve her individual PSAA record to 4-0, including last year’s PSAA Championship. Kew-Forest took the 2nd place spot in 17:04, but five Brookers followed in succession to complete the team sweep. Evelyn Apazidis (3rd/17:36), Yasmin Tinaz (4th/17:58), Maryana Lekanova (5th/18:11), and Judy Tao (6th/18:20) closed out the scoring for the Brook. Only the top five runners on each team count for scoring, but the Bears still took eight of the top 10 spots including Diana Barbacena (7th/18:48), Anne-Sarah Nichitiu (9th/19:30), and Ellen Tong (10th/19:33).
