This afternoon, the badminton team topped the Knox School, 11-1, to improve to 6-0 on the season, earning at least a share of the regular season championship. One more victory for the Bears in their final two matches or a third loss for Long Island Lutheran and Kew-Forest would give them the outright title.
Leslie Kang (15-4, 15-1), Nancy Man (15-7, 15-8), and Margo Averbach (15-4, 15-3) won the girls’ singles matches, while Ella Liu and Lily Zhang (15-9, 15-9) and Lydia Sun and Louise Lin (15-8, 15-10) took the girls’ doubles matches.
Jerry Liu (15-6, 15-5), Glen Choi (15-2, 15-3), and Kevin Zhang (15-12, 15-12) swept boys’ singles while Tony Yu and Caleb Spreckels won boys’ doubles, 15-7, 15-7. Mary Wang and Ian Liu (15-5, 15-9) and David Chen and Grace Wang (15-9, 15-10) took mixed doubles.
The Bears will have a chance to clinch the outright regular season title in a home match-up vs. Portledge on Monday.
