
On this day 20 years ago, Paul Ciofrone ’96 hit one of five home runs for Hofstra as the Flying Dutchmen topped Virginia Tech, 16-11, in a non-conference tilt.
In 1999, Ciofrone batted .333, with 6 home runs, 29 RBIs, and 20 steals. One year later he would be named America East Player of the Year after a season in which he batted .408 (35th in the nation) and recorded 51 hits, 12 doubles, 37 RBIs, 11 home runs, and a .538 OBP. His .768 slugging percentage was 17th in the nation.
He continues to dot the Hofstra record books. He is ninth in school history with 11 home runs in a season and seventh in school history with a .768 slugging percentage in a season.
