Yesterday, eight members of the swim team competed on day one of the Easterns Championships, one of the premier private school meets in the country held at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Despite never having been to the prestigious event, it didn’t take long for the Bears to make a splash.

Eight school records fell during the Friday session, highlighted by Madi Sargent’s two school records in one day in the 200 freestyle. Her 1:54.15 mark in the prelims shattered her own record time of 1:57.02 set in the fall. She came back with a 1:53.41 in the finals that moved her up three spots and into medal position. It was the highest freshman finish in the field.

After day one the Bears are 20th in the team standings out of 39 teams, ahead of such schools as Milton, Blair, and Poly Prep, despite being one of the smallest teams in the field.

The Bears are back today for day two of the event and will compete in the women’s and men’s 100 free, women’s 500 free, and men’s 100 breaststroke.
