On this day 56 years ago, Tonnie Coane ’59 helped lead the University of Kansas men’s track team to an 86-36 win over Oklahoma, giving the Jayhawks an 18th consecutive dual meet victory.

The former Brooker won the mile relay along with Chuck Lanning, Don Hill, and Dave Crandall in 3:28.2 while teammate and future NFL Hall of Famer, Gale Sayers, won the 60 yard dash and 60 yard low hurdles.
