On this day 19 years ago, the girls’ basketball team clinched at least a share of a fourth straight League Championship with a 47-35 win over Smithtown Christian.

Michelle Spurlock scored eight of her game-high 19 points in the first half to lead Stony Brook to a 24-8 cushion. The Bears would never see their lead slip below double-digits from that point on. Spurlock notched 11 rebounds for the double-double while Gwen Powlison added 7 points.

The Bears went on to clinch the outright title.
