William & Mary freshman Chase Audige was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on Monday. Audige led the Tribe to a pair of victories last week, averaging 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and 3.5 steals per game.
Audige, who shot 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from the field and 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from 3 in the wins, joins a group that includes Drexel’s Camren Wynter, Delaware’s Ithiel Horton, and UNCW’s Kai Toews as three-time CAA Rookie of the Week honorees in 2018-19. In total, the quartet has won 12 of the league’s 14 honors this season. Audige became the fifth W&M player to earn the weekly honor on three occasions and has the most since Omar Prewitt won seven in 2013-14. He also took home the accolades on Nov. 26 and Dec. 31.
In W&M’s 75-69 win over Drexel, Audige scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and a career-high tying four steals. He followed that up with his first career double-double posting 17 points and 10 rebounds in the Tribe’s Gold Rush win over Delaware, 84-63. His personal 12-point run in the first half gave the Green and Gold the lead for good. He added four assists and three steals against the Blue Hens.
In CAA play, Audige is averaging 13.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.8 blocked shots per game, ranking among the league leaders in all five categories. He is shooting 50.5 percent from the field, 44.7 percent from 3, and 71.4 percent at the free throw line in conference action. Audige leads league rookies in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, field goal percentage, and 3-point shooting in CAA action. With his strong league production, Audige is averaging 10.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game overall.
