Dunleavy in the home match-up with Pierson on Feb. 6

On this day 12 years ago, the girls’ basketball team topped Pierson/Shelter Island, 67-31, to improve to 5-0 in League VIII. Kristyn Dunleavy led the way for the Bears, equaling the Whalers’ output with 31 points and 19 rebounds.

That season the Bears went on to win the League and Suffolk County titles before winning the program’s first Long Island Championship. Dunleavy led Suffolk County in scoring at 24.1 points per game.
