Bears Smother Knights in Inaugural PSAA Win

On Monday afternoon, the boys’ basketball team used smothering defensive pressure and a balanced scoring attack, which saw every active player score, to turn back St. Demetrios, 84-19, in the first PSAA win for the program.

The Bears roared out to a 29-6 lead after the first quarter, thanks to points from nine different Bears, and never looked back as their defense held the Knights to six points or less in each of the four periods.

Antonio Rizzo led all scorers with 13 points off the bench while Jerry Li also came off the bench to score a career-high 12. Owen Sobel (10), CJ Edwards (8), Sam Hou (7), Jai Narain (7), Andy D’Alessio (6), Josh Aduba (6), Seamus Scanlon (4), Rex Eshirow (4), Colin Scanlon (4), and Christian Bunn-Livingstone (3) rounded out the scoring for the Brook.

The Bears nabbed 20 steals on the night and dished out 19 assists.
