On this day 31 years ago, the boys’ cross country team closed the season as undefeated League VIII Champions after a 19-42 win over Mattituck. It was their seventh of what would become eight league titles during the 1980s.
The team was led by Marc Conti, who earned the individual Conference and Suffolk County crowns that year, Justin DuPree, David Setran, Scott Cullen, and Peter Hurtado. The team also went on to capture a second consecutive Suffolk County Championship that season.
