On this day 33 years ago, the football team clipped Wheatley, 10-6.
Sophomore safety Jordan Nixon, playing in his first varsity game, came up with two clutch interceptions, both on the Shrikes’ own 10-yard line, to stymie Wildcat drives. On the offensive side, quarterback Vince Broady rushed 13 times for 130 yards including the Brook’s only score. Sung Koh added a two-point conversion run that put the Blue and White up 8-0. Wheatley answered with a touchdown but it would be their only score of the day. The Brook closed the scoring with a blocked punt in the end zone that resulted in a safety.
Nixon would go on to star for Augustana College and would later be inducted into the Augustana and Stony Brook School Halls of Fame.
