On this day 20 years ago, the boys’ soccer team clipped Eastport, 3-2, thanks to some late-game heroics.
The Bears grabbed a 2-1 edge with 13:22 left in the first half when Jean Duell scored off of a cross from Riad Habib, but the Ducks equalized five minutes later to knot the game at 2-2 at the half.
The match remained tied until 2:25 remaining when Jay Smith intercepted a goal kick and scored what proved to be the game-winner. Jon Hicks scored the first goal for the Brook and Justin Chase notched 5 saves in goal.
The Bears went on to clinch the school’s first New York State Final Four berth later that season.
