Felix Nets Pair vs. Staten Island

Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ soccer team made their first foray into PSAA competition with a 2-1 victory over Staten Island Academy.

After fifty scoreless minutes, the Tigers got on the board first with a goal 10 minutes into the second half. Despite arriving on campus with only 10 players, Staten Island showed tremendous fight, but the Bears responded with a pair of goals in the ensuing 10 minutes to vault back into the lead. Beth Felix netted the equalizer on a penalty kick, three minutes after the Tigers’ score. Seven minutes later she follower with a sensational winner, hammering a cross from Madison Logan into the right side netting from outside the 18-yard box.

Sarah Hull (3 saves) and Sophia DiLavore (1 save) played well between the posts and ensured Felix’s pair of scores held up.

The Bears are back in action on Monday in a match-up at Portledge.
