Washington’s TD Waved Off, But Rutgers Rolls

On Saturday afternoon, the Rutgers University football team opened its season with a 35-7 thumping of Texas State in Piscataway.

Jerome Washington ’12, finished with two receptions for 32 yards, good enough for third-best on the team in the lopsided win. The first of his two snares was a tricky, 29-yard catch along the left sideline that put Rutgers in the red zone with 4:36 left in the second quarter:

Later in the same drive, Washington snared a perfectly thrown ball in the back of the end zone, but the score was negated by an illegal formation penalty:

The Scarlet Knights are back in action on Saturday afternoon in a match-up at Ohio State, currently ranked #5 nationally.
