Washington’s TD Waved Off, But Rutgers Rolls

On Saturday afternoon, the Rutgers University football team opened its season with a 35-7 thumping of Texas State in Piscataway.

Jerome Washington ’12, finished with two receptions for 32 yards, good enough for third-best on the team in the lopsided win. The first of his two snares was a tricky, 29-yard catch along the left sideline that put Rutgers in the red zone with 4:36 left in the second quarter. Later in the same drive, Washington snared a perfectly thrown ball in the back of the end zone, but the score was negated by an illegal formation penalty.

The Scarlet Knights are back in action on Saturday afternoon in a match-up at Ohio State, currently ranked #5 nationally.
