On Monday afternoon the girls’ Division III Track Championships kicked off at Connetquot High School. Miranda Harrigan closed her memorable, six-year running career for the Bears with a 16th place finish in the unseeded 3000, in a time of 12:37. Francine Leung provided the highlight of the day, leaping to a huge personal record of 33′ 10″ in the triple jump to qualify for finals. In the finals she jumped 33′ 8.5″ to medal in 6th place. Leung will compete in the long jump this afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon the boys’ team dropped several more PRs and sent a slew of individuals into Thursday’s finals, despite driving rain in Hampton Bays. In the 400m, Riley Corcoran ran to a personal best time of 56.17 to place 14th, while Louis Wang booked a spot in the finals with a personal best time of 52.86 that placed him in 5th after prelims. Colin Scanlon placed 4th in the prelims of the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.27 to qualify for Thursday’s final. The 4x400m relay team of Wang, Scanlon, Corcoran, and Josh Lin also qualified for finals after taking 7th in the prelims in a time of 3:46.82.
