This afternoon, Brian Tilley ’04, head coach of the Eastern Connecticut State University Men’s Lacrosse team, was named the Little East Conference Coach of the Year. Here is the press release from the Little East Conference:
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The 2018 Little East Conference (LEC) Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference teams and major awards were announced Wednesday following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Brian Tilley was named LEC Coach of the Year after guiding the Warriors to a 9-6 regular season record, which included a 5-2 mark in league play. Eastern Connecticut was seeded No. 2 in the LEC tournament and advanced to the championship game for the third time during his four-year tenure. He is just the second Warriors head coach to receive the award, the first being Justin Axel in 2012.
Tilley starred at Hartford, earning team MVP honors as a senior in 2008 after leading the Hawks in goals with 15. He was also second in scoring among America East midfielders and eighth in scoring overall, helping him earn a berth in the NEILA East-West All-Star Game.
After graduating, Tilley turned his sights to coaching and served as the Hawks’ offensive coordinator from 2010-2014, helping Hartford win the America East title in 2011. In 2015 he took the head job at Eastern Connecticut State University, leading the Warriors to a Little East Conference Championship that year.
