The ’44 baseball squad

On this day 74 years ago, the baseball team topped Setauket, 7-5, to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The “Blue Jays,” as they were known at the time, rapped out 11 hits behind three apiece from Lyman Taft, Bernard Reilly, and Bob Dorsch. Steve Kurtz came on in relief for Richard Denham to earn the win.
