On this day 23 years ago, the boys’ lacrosse team shutout Shoreham-Wading River, 16-0.

Goalie Matt Avitable stopped nine Wildcat shots to earn his first career shutout in his third year of varsity play and Matt Bickley took care of the offense with a hat trick as the Bears rolled.

The Brook jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, extended the lead to 7-0 at the half, and put the game out of reach with a 5-0 third quarter. Brothers Eaghmon and Liam Banks each notched 2 goals while Charlie Hanchett (2), Mike Hoskins (2), Jake Kenney (1), Sam Hanchett (1), Spencer Niebuhr (1), Mike Sangirardi (1), and Dennis Cassidy (1) rounded out the scoring for the Blue and White.

The Bears would go on to win a second consecutive Suffolk County Championship later that season.
