The 1996 baseball team

On this day 22 years ago, the baseball team topped Mercy 5-1.

The Brook jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead thanks to run-scoring singles from Paul Ciofrone and Jeff Sorbello. Mercy halved their deficit to 2-1, but a Robbie Marvin triple followed by a single from Ciofrone pushed the Bear lead to 3-1. Chris Meserole pitched four innings of no-hit ball to get the win.

The Bears would go on to win the County Championship for the first time since 1987, powered by the All-Long Island play of Ciofrone and the All-County performance of Marvin.
