Last April, the boys’ tennis team broke a string of eight straight losses to Bayport-Blue Point with a 4-3 win. This afternoon, they put together a winning streak against one of the mainstays of League V tennis with a 5-2 victory on the Phantoms’ courts.
The Bears actually began this match last Wednesday, but rain began to fall with the Brook leading four of the seven matches. Nearly a week later, with March’s fourth nor’easter blowing through in the intervening days, the Bears finished the job. Brandon Gicquel (7-5, 6-2), Steven Ou (6-1, 6-1), and Wensan Yin (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) continued their brilliant singles play with victories while the tandems of Jovan Haynes and Pratik Harjani (6-2, 2-6, 6-2) and Alan Wang and Andy Liu (7-5, 1-6, 6-3) earned wins at doubles to close out the Blue and White victory.
With the win, the Bears improve to 3-1 on the season. They are back on the court tomorrow afternoon at Longwood.
