On this day 16 years ago, Pete Grimm ’99 pushed across the eventual game-winning run for UNC-Wilmington in a 9-7 victory over the University of Arizona.
With the scored knotted at 7-7 in the top of the 9th, the former Bear sent a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Kiley Vaughn and gave the Seahawks an 8-7 lead. They would tack on another before retiring the Wildcats without incident in the bottom half of the 9th to improve to 12-3 on the year.
Grimm finished the 2002 season with a .264 batting average, 13 runs, 19 hits, 4 doubles, 3 home runs, and 13 RBIs.
