Kevin trails Don by a stride during a time trial to decide the 1975 Penn Relays team

On this day 41 years ago, Kevin Lockerbie took 3rd in the 600 yard run at the New York State Championships.

The senior ran 1:13.7, narrowly losing to Tony Tufariello (Hewlett/1:11.8) and Joseph Toles (Uniondale/1:12.1) while besting Tim Dieckman (Valley Central-Montgomery/1:15.4) and Rocco Serafini (Niskayuna-Schenectady/1:16.3).

Lockerbie would go on to star at the University of North Carolina alongside his brother Don ’75, where he would, among many other accomplishments, take 2nd place in the 1,000 yard run at the 1979 ACC Indoor Championships and win gold in the mile relay at the 1981 ACC Outdoor Championships.
