On this day 59 years ago, there was no wrestling match at the Brook thanks to a flu epidemic that was sweeping across Long Island.

Three schools in East Islip closed due to high absences, including an incredible 53% absentee rate at the high school. High absence rates were also reported in Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Lawrence, Glen Cove, and Wantagh.

At the Brook, 45 of 190 students were absent on this day, prompting the cancellation of the match.
