The 1926 basketball team

On this day 92 years ago, the basketball team dropped Huntington, 26-7, on a Saturday night in Stony Brook.

The Brookers built a 16-7 lead at the half, then held the visitors scoreless over the final two quarters to seal the win. James Durham led all scorers with 12 points while Edward Silsbe chipped in 9.

Clyde Mellinger’s squad went on to have the best season through the program’s first four years, going 14-2.
