On this day 18 years ago, the girls’ basketball team turned in a thrilling comeback victory over Smithtown Christian, 45-42.

The Bears trailed 18-7 after the first quarter and were still behind by 12 at the break, but stormed back in the second half for the win. Michelle Spurlock turned in a gaudy line of 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 blocks, while Brooke Meserole chipped in 14 points on four 3-pointers.

The Bears would go on to win a fourth consecutive League Championship later that season.
