The 2004-05 Bears
On this day 13 years ago, the girls’ basketball team edged Southold, 42-40, thanks to the late-game heroics of Lindsay Festa.
The senior guard hit two free throws with just nine seconds remaining to break the 40-40 tie and give the Bears the victory and a 2-0 start to the league season. Kristyn Dunleavy paced the Brook with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
The 2004-05 squad would go on to win the program’s first League Championship in four years to begin an unprecedented run of success for a program that would win seven League Championships, six County Championships, three Long Island Championships, and a Regional Championship from 2005-2011.
