G Basketball 1998
The 1997-98 girls’ basketball squad

On this day 20 years ago, the girls’ basketball team topped Newfield, 43-38. The Bears led 17-14 after the first quarter but took a narrow two-point lead into the break. They seized control in the third as Rebecca Fischer scored seven of her game-high 18 points in the 12-5 quarter that left the Blue and White up by nine heading into the fourth.

The Brook scored only five points in the final frame, but their tough half-court defense held the Wolverines to nine points to seal the win. Fischer completed her double-double with 11 rebounds, Lindsay Brown netted 10 points, and Sara Kiernan added 7 points.

The girls would go on to win their second of four consecutive League Championships.
