Kelly & Malone Turn Back Galway

The 2017 Malone squad (Kelly – 1st row, 3rd from right)

Yesterday afternoon, the Malone Rugby Club improved to 9-1 in their final match before the Christmas holiday with a 31-17 victory over the Galway Corinthians. The win kept the Red Sox on top of Division 2A in the Ulster Bank League.

Galway grabbed a 7-0 early lead, but Malone outscored their hosts 21-3 over the rest of the half, thanks in part to a try from scrum half Shane Kelly ’11.

Kelly and the Red Sox are back in action on December 30 vs. Ballynahinch.

Malone have one of the best attacking backlines in Ulster club rugby. Shane Kelly and Connor Spence have been consistent in their performances at scrum half and, along with Callum Smith, have one of the most intelligent out halves in Ulster club rugby to play alongside.
