On this day 19 years ago, the wrestling team earned three individual championships at the 2nd Annual Takedown Tournament.

In a field of over 190 wrestlers from Hills West, Comsewogue, Eastport, Southampton, and Ward Melville, Rishad Armstrong, Roger Sam, and Rob Wenner emerged as champions. Wenner’s heavyweight title came in a memorable victory over Ward Melville’s Cole Ferraro.

Wenner went on to win a League Championship that season with an 18-2 record, while Armstrong, his fellow captain, closed his junior season with a 15-6 mark.
