On Saturday, the 22nd-ranked Stony Brook University football team went on the road and took down #19 Richmond, 27-24. The win allowed the Seawolves to improve to 5-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association, good enough for third place behind James Madison (5-0) and Elon (5-0).
Don Liotine ’13 scored a second quarter touchdown to extend Stony Brook’s lead to its largest of the game before they held on late for the win. With 10:48 remaining in the half, the former Bear scored from three yards out, slamming into the right guard and moving both him and the ball over the goal line to put the Seawolves ahead, 17-7. Liotine’s fifth touchdown of the season capped a seven-play, 52-yard drive.
Liotine finished with 33 rushing yards on 14 carries while racking up 41 yards on two kickoff returns with a long run of 23 yards.
Liotine and the Seawolves are back in action at home next Saturday against rival Albany (1-4) in the Empire Clash.
