Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ swim team topped Hauppauge, 96-75, in the final meet of the regular season. It was the Bears’ first win over the Eagles since restarting the team three years ago, and gave them their third victory of the season, their most since reigniting the program.

The Bears claimed seven of the nine individual events and two of the three relays to claim the victory. Individual winners for the Brook were Madison Sargent in the 200 freestyle (2:00.10) and 100 freestyle (56.06), Rachel Crane in the 200 individual medley (2:25.84) and 100 backstroke (1:06.60), Rebecca Crane in the 100 butterfly (1:09.81) and 500 freestyle (6:03.36), and Kate Jones in the 50 freestyle (28.40). Sargent’s mark in the 100 free also broke Colleen Smith’s 1988 school record of 56.20, marking the fifth different school record to fall this season.

The 200 freestyle relay squad of Sargent, Rachel Crane, Francine Leung, and Rebecca Crane claimed victory in 1:51.67 while Sargent and the Cranes joined Yesenia McKee to win the 400 freestyle relay in 4:02.54.

Next up for the Bears is the League Championship at Hauppauge on October 25.
