Boys’ Soccer Shoots Down Ravens

October 19, 2017

On an unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon, the boys’ soccer team thumped the Ross School, 9-4, in a late season scrimmage.

Jai Narain got the scoring started for the Brook in the fifth minute, taking a great lead ball from David Wadding and poking it past the closing keeper. Eight more goals would follow in less than twenty minutes as the Blue and White buried Ross under an avalanche of offense.

Chris Swiatek tucked away a deflected Narain shot at the 35:44 mark then scored again four minutes later off of a deft through ball from Owen Sobel. Ian Blunt scored at the 28:37 mark courtesy of a through ball from Narain. Swiatek earned a hat trick after heading home a beautiful corner kick from Tiger Winston to make it 5-0 in the 15th minute. Winston scored a goal of his own two minutes later off of a Narain cross, then Narain made it 7-0 on an unassisted strike at 21:25. Swiatek’s unassisted score gave him a fourth goal and pushed the lead to 8-0 at 19:45 before Blunt scored again minutes later.

When the dust finally settled the Bears led 9-1 at the half. Ross showed great spirit despite the deficit and tucked home two goals late.

The Bears are back in action next Wednesday as the postseason kicks off. The seeding meeting tomorrow will determine their opponent, but they are almost assured the 4th seed, setting up a date at #1 Pierson.
