On Friday afternoon the girls’ swim team fought valiantly against the combined team of East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson, ultimately falling 40-53. In the process Rebecca Crane, Rachel Crane, Francine Leung, and Madi Sargent bested the 200 freestyle relay school record reset by the Cranes, Sargent, and Yesenia McKee earlier this season. The foursome raced to a time of 1:47.50 to break the previous mark of 1:48.70 by over a second. As a team the Bears have broken four school records a total of ten times thus far this season with League, County, and State Championships still looming.
Additionally, Rebecca Crane won the 200 individual medley (2:24.91), Rachel Crane won the 100 backstroke (1:06.32), and Madi Sargent was a dual winner in the 100 butterfly (1:01.57) and 500 freestyle (5:26.21). McKee, Ruthie Crane, Kate Jones, and Anya Caraiani took the 400 freestyle relay in 4:26.81.
The Bears wrap up the regular season this afternoon at Hauppauge before looking ahead to the individual championships.
