This afternoon, the Stony Brook University football team opened CAA Conference play with a 35-18 victory at the University of Rhode Island, their fifth straight win over the Rams.
Don Liotine ’13 led the Seawolves in rushing yards with 43 on 10 carries and added a touchdown on a four-yard carry with 9:56 left in the fourth quarter that extended Stony Brook’s lead to 28-10. The score was the first of the season for Liotine and the eighth of his career.
Liotine has been a thorn in Rhode Island’s side over the years. In 2015 he racked up a team-leading 121 all-purpose yards, including 114 on the ground, in the Seawolves’ 19-7 victory.
Liotine and the Seawolves are back in action next Saturday in their home opener vs. Sacred Heart.
