On this day 29 year ago, Jordan Nixon’s grand slam powered the baseball team to a 4-1 win over Mercy.

Chad Smith got on base with a 1-out walk in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Mark Very followed with a single and Glenn Rustay loaded the bases by reaching on a passed ball after a strikeout. With the bags full, Nixon stepped up and provided the only offense for the Brook with a bases clearing blast.

Nixon would go on to star at Augustana College in football and baseball. In 1991 he led Division III in punt return yardage, earning him an All-American nod. He was later inducted into the Augustana Athletic Hall of Fame.
