On this day 15 years ago, the girls’ tennis team won the League Championship with a 7-0 victory over Comsewogue. The victory came one day after a crucial 4-3 victory over Mt. Sinai, who edged the Bears by the same margin only a week earlier.
Led by the All-Conference play of Sarah Brunn and All-League honorees Carolyn Bilodeau, Juanita Gonzales, Katie Jaeger, and Tzung-Ping Wei, the Bears edged past Mt. Sinai in the standings to earn the league crown with a 9-1 record.
It was the first league title for the girls’ tennis team since 1996.
