On Sunday, Rod Odom ’09 scored 11 points to help lead BC Astana to an 83-78 seaon-opening victory over Russia’s Avtodor Saratov.

The former Bear was 2-for-6 from the field, including an emphatic slam, and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. He also filled the stat line with 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists in a team-leading 34 minutes.

BC Astana (or “Basketball Club Astana”) is located in Astana, Kazakhstan. They compete in the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship, the highest league in Kazakhstan, as well as the VTB United League, the highest tier of professional Russian basketball.

Odom and Astana will take the floor again tomorrow vs. UNICS Kazan.
