



This Saturday, four Brookers will be inducted into the Stony Brook School’s Athletic Hall of Fame, joining a group that represents the finest student-athletes in the 94-year history of Blue and White. Jerry Armfield ’66 and Matt Mattimore ’95 will become the first from their graduation class to be inducted while Paul Ciofrone ’96 and Robbie Marvin ’96 will join Jake Kenney ’96, making the Class of 1996 the best represented along with the Class of 1945.

Jerry Armfield ’66

- Postseason Honors: Ivy League MVP in basketball (1965), All-Long Island in basketball (1966)
- Class Night Awards: Basketball Award (1966)
- Additional Accomplishments: Ivy League runner-up in the discus (1965), scored 39 points vs. Poly Prep (1966)

- 2000: 1st Team All-Conference
- 2000 Stats: .768 slugging % (17th in nation/ 7th in Hofstra history), .408 batting avg. (35th in nation) & 11 home runs (9th in Hofstra history)

- Drafted by New York Mets in 1996 MLB Draft
- Played 3 seasons in minor leagues
- Career minor league totals: (139 games): 93 hits, 18 doubles, 8 home runs & 50 RBIs
Robbie Marvin ’96

- Postseason Honors: All-County in soccer (1995), All-County in baseball (1995 & 1996), League MVP in baseball (1996)
- Class Night Awards: Swanson Best All-Around Athlete (1996), Stuckey Boys Soccer Award (1995), Taft Boys Basketball Award (1995 & 1996), Swanson Baseball Award (1995 & 1996)
- Record Book: Most soccer goals in one season (20)
- Team Accomplishments: League Championships in soccer (1994 & 1995), League & County Championships in baseball (1996)
- Additional Accomplishments: Scored 39 points in an upset playoff victory vs. Wyandanch (1996); Bear Blanket recipient
University of Virginia Baseball
- 1999: Reached base safely in 18 straight games
- 2000: 2nd Team All-ACC
- 2000 Stats: Led team in batting avg. (.350) & stolen bases (16). 2nd on team in assists (121) & 3rd on team in hits (63).
Matt Mattimore ’95

- Postseason Honors: All-County in football (1993 & 1994), Super-Senior All-Star in football (1994), All-Conference in basketball (1995)
- Individual Championships: Division Champion in 100 meters (1995), member of Division Champion 4×400 relay team (1995)
- Class Night Awards: Vanderveer Award (1995), Swanson Award for Best All-Around Athlete (1995), Buyers Football Award (1994 & 1995), Taft Boys Basketball Award (1992, 1993, 1994 & 1995), Downey Boys Track Award (1995)
- Milestones: Fourth 1,000 point scorer in boys’ basketball history
- School records: Held four football school records when he graduated and still holds record for receiving touchdowns in a season (12); held 100 meter record from 1995-2010 (11.12); held basketball career scoring record from 1995-2011
- Team Accomplishments: League Championships in basketball (1993 & 1994)
- Additional Accomplishments: Bear Blanket recipient
Georgetown University Football
- 1997: Helped Hoyas win 1st MAAC Championship with a touchdown over Duquesne, ending their 20-game win streak
- 1998: 1st Team All-American; won team’s Jeremiah Minihan Coaches Award, “presented to the student who, in the opinion of the coaches, has made an outstanding contribution to the team.”
- Record Book: 7th in school history for receiving yards in a game (188), in a season (804), & in a career (1,117)
