Armand in action last season

The Gordon College men’s basketball team scorched Curry College this afternoon, 103-64, making Richie Armand’s return to the lineup a happy one. Armand ’12 sustained a knee injury in a match-up with Roger Williams University last February 17. The injury came in Armand’s second start of the season after working his way back from a knee injury sustained the season before.

It has been an arduous road back for the senior point guard, but he made the most of his limited debut, connecting on his only shot of the afternoon, a 3-pointer, and adding an assist in seven minutes of play. Fellow Brooker Luke Meyer ’15 added 4 assists for the Fighting Scots.

Senior Richie Armand saw his first action of the season and was a spark in the early going. He came in to a 21-14 score and exited 4.5 minutes later with the GC lead extended to 34-18. Richie found himself wide open behind the arc on his first possession and reluctantly took the shot. That 3-pointer drew the biggest cheer of the afternoon from the Gordon bench which obviously has noticed and appreciated Richie’s effort to get back on the floor after a serious injury last season.

The victory nudged Gordon above .500 to 7-6 overall on the season and 4-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Armand, Meyer, and the Scots take the floor again on Thursday vs. Nichols College.
