On this day eight years ago, the boys’ cross country team won the middle title of a County Championship 3-peat that ran from 2006 to 2008.

Billy Collins led the Brook, winning the first individual County title for the Blue and White since Marc Conti in 1987. Collins covered the Sunken Meadow course in a time of 17:52. Teammate Luke Reimer was right on his heels, taking the runner-up spot in 18:39. The Bears easily bested Shelter Island and Southold by a score of 22-42-66.

Collins and Reimer earned All-League 1st Team recognition while Thomas Payne and Carlo Masakayan took 2nd  Team honors. Coach Jake Morley earned Coach of the Year honors in Suffolk County Class D.

The team went on to place 3rd at the New York State Championships, the highest finish for the Brook since the 1976 team also placed 3rd. Collins ran to an 11th place finish and Reimer came in 20th.
