Yesterday afternoon, sophomore Miranda Harrigan defended her Division IV Cross Country title, winning a close race by just over a second.
In last year’s Division Championship, Harrigan won by 46 seconds over her next closest competitor in a time of 21:51.22. This year, she ran nearly an identical time to edge Southampton’s Michalle Gagliardo by 1.07 seconds in a time of 21:51.35.
Cianka Haynes ran to a 3rd place finish in 22:42 and was followed by Sam Taveras (18th/26:11), Danielle Sivertsen (20th/26:51), and Ilsa Shahzadi (24th/27:19). The Bears finished 3rd out of six teams.
In an aggregation of all four divisional races from yesterday, Harrigan’s time placed her 70th out of 327 runners.
