This weekend, at the prestigious St. Anthony’s Invitational, an event that draws some fifty schools from all over the Island, sophomore Jyles Etienne excelled in the high jump and javelin to garner two medals.
In the 25-man field of the varsity high jump, Etienne soared to a height of 6′ 0″ to take 3rd place in the event, the highest a Stony Brook high jumper has ever finished in this meet.
Later, in the varsity javelin event, he grabbed another 3rd place finish with a throw of 130′ 10″ that left him just four feet shy of the school record, despite the fact that it is the first time he has thrown all season.
Etienne will once again assault the laws of physics on May 12 in a dual meet with Mattituck.
