The '43 Blue & White
The ’43 Blue & White

On this day 72 years ago, Bob Swanson threw a two-hitter vs. Smithtown to lead the Brook to a 4-1 win.

Two-hit ball games are at least an achievement if not a rarity in any league, but we'll go a step further and declare that Bob Swanson's two-hitter over Smithtown High was nothing less than masterful.

For five straight innings Mr. Swanson mowed them down until the sixth and seventh, when Smithtown finally cracked two futile hits. While our opponents tried in vain to solve the mystery, S.B. batters pecked away for seven hits and four runs, which were more than enough to hang up win number three.
