On this day 14 years ago, Charlie Hanchett ’97 and the Gettysburg College lacrosse team won the Centennial Conference Championship.
The Bullets opened up an early 5-1 lead over Washington College, but Washington began to close the gap in the second quarter. Hanchett helped stem the tide with two timely assists as the Bullets rolled to the 15-7 win. Hanchett finished with 3 assists in his fourth straight conference championship victory.
The Bullets’ postseason success would continue as Hanchett tallied 4 goals and an assist during their NCAA Tournament run, including a goal in the National Championship vs. Middlebury. Hanchett would finish his senior season sixth on the team in points (10 goals/ 16 assists).
