Our young alumni are doing some amazing things in athletics at the collegiate and professional level. Here is an update on the many successes of our former Bears.


Tyler Abrahamsen ’13 joined the Liberty University golf team in the fall. He placed 55th in the Pinetree Intercollegiate in Georgia, posting a 76 in the second round.

Emily Andersen ’11 is enjoying her fourth year of rowing at William Smith College. In October she helped her crew finish 12th out of 30 teams in the renowned Head of the Charles. The spring portion of her season will resume at the end of March.

Richie Armand ’12 has recovered well from last spring’s knee injury and is back in Gordon College’s basketball lineup. In his first game back he provided a spark off the bench with a team-high 3 steals in a win over Roger Williams. He provides vital play at the point guard position for the defending Commonwealth Coast Conference Champions.

Emily Carmel ’13 is in the midst of her second season on Eastern University’s basketball team. A potent 3-point threat, her 16 points led the Eagles to a win over Old Westbury in November.

Andrew Daniel ’14 and the Franklin & Marshall basketball team are off to a 14-0 start. In October, Daniel and his teammates traveled to Costa Rica to serve children and teach them the game they love.

Alexis Fernandez ’13 is hoping to improve upon a great freshman season for the High Point University track & field team. Last season she set a new personal best of 5.30 meters in the long jump at the Big South Championship. She will also compete for the Panthers in the spring.

Ryan Haas ’12 is rehabbing after shoulder surgery last summer in the hopes of returning to the lineup for Lesley University’s baseball team.

Matt Hollis ’14 competed in his first indoor track meet for High Point University in December, taking 7th in the pole vault with a height of 12′ 1″ at the JDL College Kickoff Classic. Hollis will also be competing in the spring for the Panthers.

Austin Hulse ’13 earned his first career win for the Sacred Heart University wrestling team in November before unfortunately injuring his knee in his next match. We wish Austin a speedy recovery.

Shane Kelly ’10 is competing professionally for the Malone Rugby Football Club in his home country of Northern Ireland. The scrum half has competed in six matches so far for the Red Sox.

Kara Lee ’11 is in the midst of her senior season on the Harvard University fencing team. She was named team co-captain for the second year and began her season with a 3-0 record in the sabre division in a win over Tufts.

Donna Liotine ’11 closed a memorable soccer career for Adelphi University this past fall. She was named team captain before the season, then helped lead the team into the conference semifinals and the ECAC Championship. As a result of her fine play, she was selected 1st Team All-Conference for the second straight year, 1st Team All-ECAC and 2ndTeam All-Region.

Don Liotine’s ’13 football season at Stony Brook University was cut short after a shoulder injury. We hope that his recovery goes well.

Rod Odom ’09 signed a contract in August to play professional basketball for KAOD, a basketball club in Drama, Greece. He has made an immediate impact on the team, earning a role in the starting lineup and scoring a team-high 14 points in a win over Macedonia’s MZT Skopje in October.

Tim Pandolfi ’11 transferred to DeSales University after a successful stint with Borough of Manhattan Community College. In November he stepped into the starting lineup for an injured teammate and netted 14 points to lead the Bulldogs’ basketball team over Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

Margot Rashba ’14 closed a successful freshman campaign with the Tufts University cross country team with a 23rd place finish at the ECAC Championship, covering the 6k course in 23:17 to best 315 other runners. She will also compete for the Jumbos on their spring track team.

Kenny Ruddick ’09 recently accepted a job as the sprints and hurdles coach at Suffolk Community College.

Emily Shultz ’11 had a successful fall season for Lock Haven University’s swim team. Her 200 medley relay team took 2nd place at the Pitt Invite in a deep field that included Drexel University, Clemson University, and the University of Pittsburgh. Her season will resume with the Bald Eagles in mid-January.

Jake Singer ’14 was a member of Trevecca Nazarene University’s soccer team this past fall. The midfielder helped the Trojans reach the conference quarterfinals.

Danielle Spiliotis ’09 signed a contract to play professional basketball with Terpsithea Glyfadas, a club based in Athens, Greece. She is currently in the starting lineup and averaging 12.2 points and 7 rebounds a game.

Brianna Stiklickas ’11 will compete for the Babson College track team in the spring. She is looking to help lead her 4×100 meter relay team back into the NCAA New England Championship.

Jerome Washington ’12 had a standout season for Gattaca Football, an independent program connected to Mercy County Community College. His 8 touchdowns, 24 receptions, and 510 receiving yards caught the attention of some of the premier football programs in America including Alabama, Miami, Nebraska, and Washington. In December he officially signed a letter of intent to play football for the University of Miami, winners of five National Championships. He was also ranked the #1 junior college tight end in America by ESPN.

Wes Woodley ’11 had a standout season for the North Park University men’s soccer team. He was selected to the All-Conference team for the second straight year after posting an 80.2 save percentage for the Vikings. He recorded a season-high 7 saves in a 1-0 shutout over Elmhurst in October.
